The Royal Borough of Greenwich has called for the demolition of two high-rise apartment blocks in Woolwich due to a number of planning breaches.
It has been reported that there were “at least” 26 breaches to the initial plans which were initially apporved in 2012.
Tennants of Mast Quay II, which comprises of 204 apartments, could be asked to find alternative accommodation.
The council noted that the windows were smaller than the agreed specifications, the disabled access fell short of requirements, there was an absence of a playground or gardens, the number of shop units was less than originally planned, and there were substantial discrepancies in architectural details.
The developer, Comer Homes Group, has until October 30 to appeal against the decision.
The council descried the complex as a “mutant development that is a blight on the landscape.
"We cannot let what has been delivered at Mast Quay Phase II go unchallenged”.
A representative from Comer Homes Group commented: "The Comer Homes Group is surprised and extremely disappointed by the decision of the Royal Borough of Greenwich to issue an enforcement notice in respect of our Mast Quay Phase ll development.
"We are particularly surprised to see the accompanying public statements which are inaccurate and misrepresent the position and our actions.
"We will be appealing against the enforcement notice and look forward to robustly correcting the inaccuracies and addressing the council's concerns."
