Celebrating the opening of Battersea Power Station

On October 14th Battersea Power Station reopened its doors to the public for the first time in almost 40 years, following a £9bn transformation.

Once responsible for supplying a fifth of the city’s electricity, the 1930s landmark is now a commercial wonderland.

Complete with contemporary wine bars, rooftop villas, independent shops and fine dining galore, this grade II* listed building is one of the most complicated developments that has ever taken place in the UK.

Apple will dominate 6 floors of space with its new office, along with retail giants including Zara, Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren.

According to Development Company boss Simon Murphy, around 96% of the space has already been filled.

He says: "It has taken a lot of hard work, determination, and the continued commitment of the Malaysian shareholders over the past 10 years to bring Battersea Power Station back to its former glory.”

Visitors also have the opportunity to take a lift to the top of one of the iconic chimneys and admire London from 109m high.

Don’t take the view for granted though - it only took 3 years and 25,000 wheelbarrows of concrete to get these chimneys back to their original form...

Battersea Power Station is a magnificent example of the capabilities of our sector - we recommend going to visit if you haven’t already!
